Guest Workshop: From The Top, Jack!

Guest Workshop: From The Top, Jack!

You just sang a knock-down, drag-out improvised mash-up of soul music, rap and opera about “orphaned raccoons”. The last notes fly out of your mouth to the awaiting ears of the audience. You stand, ready to take your bow! This is your moment! Why aren’t they clapping?

Maybe the scene that began all this didn’t warrant a song. Maybe your song start was out of nowhere. WHY ARE THEY CONFUSED? This workshop will help you create a fully realized scene with music. Improvisers tend to forget that there is still a scene that the audience wants to feel complete. You will learn how to flow from scene to song and back. This includes strong communication with your musician, an unselfish attitude for scenework and giving the audience a solid, structured and full “scene that has singing.” Come ready to sing, whether you feel you can sing or are tone deaf. All skill levels welcome.
